Real Cost Calculator

Tap the Calculate tab and enter the product you want to compare. Add your ZIP code and how often you use it per week.

• Be as specific as you like, "Hidden Valley Ranch 16oz" works just as well as "ranch dressing"
• Your ZIP helps price things accurately for your region
• Weekly uses drives your monthly and yearly savings numbers

Tap Scan a Barcode at the top of the Calculate tab and point your camera at any product in the store.

• Pulls the real ingredient list from the actual label, not estimates
• Flagged additives are identified from the real ingredients automatically
• Android: live camera scanner, point and it reads automatically
• iPhone: tap Open Camera, take a photo of the barcode, Claude reads the number. Or type it manually under "or enter manually"

After a calculation, the app suggests a homemade ingredient list. Make it yours by editing names and prices in real time.

• Tap any ingredient name to rename it
• Tap the price field and enter what you actually pay
• Tap + Add ingredient to add something the app missed
• Tap × to remove an ingredient you wouldn't use
• Override the total cost directly in the Total homemade cost per batch field

Your savings update in real time as you edit.

Tap Save This Swap to add it to your tracker. Head to My Saves to see everything you've compared.

• Tap any saved swap to open its full detail sheet
• Add a recipe link so your go-to recipe is always one tap away
• Extract Ingredients, paste a recipe URL and the app reads the ingredients automatically
• Edit ingredients directly in the saved item and tap Save to update your costs
• Log when you last made it, tap Today or pick a date
• Add notes like "use King Arthur flour" or "double batch for freezer"
• Schedule This Swap, add it to Google or Apple Calendar with a reminder
• Sort your swaps by Most Savings, Recently Added, or Made Recently

The top of My Saves shows your total savings across every swap, updated automatically.

• Monthly savings, what you save each month if you make every swap
• Yearly savings, the big number
• Harmful ingredients replaced, unique additives you've cut from your pantry

Tap ✨ Share My Total Savings to generate a shareable card showing all three numbers.

Tap Add to My Plan from My Saves to pick which swaps you want to make. They'll land in the My Plan tab ready to organize.

• Each planned swap defaults to 3 days from today, tap the date to change it
• Expand any swap card to edit, add, or remove ingredients for that specific batch
• Choose 📋 Add to My Plan for planning only, or 📋 + Calendar to also add events to your calendar app
• Clear My Plan when you're done, it stays until you manually clear it

The top of My Plan automatically builds a grocery list from all your planned swap ingredients, grouped by category.

• Each ingredient shows which swap it's needed for so you know how much to buy
• Tap an ingredient to check it off while you shop
• Tap × to remove anything you already have
• Add extra items manually at the bottom
• Tap Share Grocery List to send it to your notes app, messages, or any grocery list app you already use

Every saved swap has a Share button in its detail sheet. Tap it to generate a 1080×1080 savings card.

• Tap Download to save to your camera roll
• Tap Copy Image to paste directly into Instagram Stories

The Share My Total Savings button on the My Saves dashboard generates a card showing your combined savings across all swaps.

The Chemicals tab is a full reference guide to 80+ harmful ingredients in store-bought products, organized into six categories.

• Preservatives, Dyes, Flavor Enhancers, Emulsifiers, Sweeteners, Personal Care
• Each entry shows concern level, what products it hides in, why it's flagged, and where it's banned
• Use the search bar to look up any specific ingredient

Your saved swaps live on your device. Before switching phones or deleting the app, download a backup from the bottom of My Saves.

• CSV download, opens in Excel, Google Sheets
• Summary download, plain text backup, easy to email yourself

To restore: go to My Saves, scroll to the bottom, tap Choose CSV File and select your backup.
